M R. X. Dentith is a philosopher whose work-to-date has concerned the epistemology of claims which are considered fragile and open to dispute, such as conspiracy theories, fake news, and how we understand secrecy. They received their PhD in Philosophy from the University of Auckland back in 2012. They are a leading light in on the theory of conspiracy theory, having authored numerous academic articles, a collected volume (Taking Conspiracy Theories Seriously, Rowman and Littlefield, 2018), and two books (The Philosophy of Conspiracy Theories, Palgrave Macmillan, 2014 & Understanding Conspiracy Theories, Manchester University Press, forthcoming). They are a regular media commentator on conspiracy theory internationally, having been interviewed by the media in Aotearoa New Zealand, Italy, Hungary, Latvia, Romania, and the U.S. They currently co-host The Podcaster’s Guide to the Conspiracy with Josh Addison, and are a member of the Disinformation Project at Te Pūnaha Matatini.
